Workshops & Forums: Before and After: Envisioning a Multi-Use Arts Space Designed for and by People with Disabilities Presented by the Mickee Faust Club (Sunday, November 4, 2007)

Before beginning capital improvement projects on a new multi-arts complex in Railroad Square (which ideally will include a 200 seat theatre, rehearsal space, audio-visual room and offices), the Mickee Faust Club is requesting input from artists with disabilities and audience members with disabilities. Please join us at noon on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at the now empty Mickee Faust Academy for the Really Dramatic Arts (607 McDonnell Drive). At this public meeting, ADA specialists will join representatives from Mickee Faust and Ability1st to review initial design plans for the new multi-use arts complex. Please note this new building at 607 McDonnell Drive is not currently ADA compliant. However, Faustkateers who are mobility-impaired and use chairs have taken test drives up the loading dock ramp to the building to make sure the existing ramp is manageable for this one-time entrance into our empty warehouse. For more information, contact Terry Galloway at TLGalloway@aol.com or Carrie Sandahl at (850) 219-3519.

COCA Announcement: COCA’s Annual Grants Task Force Meeting (Thursday, November 1, 2007)

Each year, COCA brings together participants in the City and County cultural grant programs to assist in evaluating the application and funding process. This year’s meeting will be held at COCA’s Offices (816 S. Boulevard Street) on Thursday, November 1st from 12:30-1:20 p.m. Please note that this is a meeting to evaluate existing granting guidelines for non-profit arts organizations within Leon County and Tallahassee – it is not a general grant writing workshop. However, anyone is welcome to attend. If there are specific items you would like to have addressed at the meeting, please contact Holly Thompson at 850-224-2500. The earlier we have your input, the more research COCA staff can bring to the table for review.
