The Oglesby Gallery is accepting applications for the Fall/Spring exhibits. This gallery is located at the heart of FSU in the Oglesby Union. The gallery is primarily a student gallery but we allow faculty, staff and friends of the University to show. Local artists are encouraged to apply. All entries will be subject to a panel review. Call to Visual Artists: Embracing Our Differences Presented by Coexistence in Sarasota, Florida (Deadline: January 12, 2009)

This is an international outdoor art exhibit intended to demonstrate, in a positive way, that diversity enriches our lives. The mission of Embracing Our Differences is to use art as a catalyst for creating awareness and promoting, throughout our community, the value of diversity, the benefits of inclusion and the significance of the active rejection of hatred and prejudice. Cash awards: $3,000. Eligibility: artists, photographers, professionals, amateurs, teachers and students. National and international submissions are encouraged. Final selections will be chosen based on artistic excellence in reflection of the theme Embracing Our Differences. The artwork will also be evaluated on how effectively it will read outdoors when enlarged to billboard size - 16 feet wide by 12 1/2 feet high. The 621 Gallery seeks donations of art work for the 15th Annual Art Auction on Friday November 21st from 5:30 – 10pm. An annual fundraiser for Tallahassee’s progressive contemporary art space, the Art Auction showcases work from the regions best artists. We want to ensure artists continue donating examples their finest work, therefore participating artists have the option to donate 50%, 75% or 100% of the final sale price to the gallery. The University of West Florida is sponsoring a national juried exhibition exploring the art of paper. Entries are welcome in any medium. New media entries are encouraged, experimental as well as traditional, on or of paper. The work must be original, completed within the last three years, and not previously exhibited at the UWF Art Gallery. The Art Gallery reserves the right to exclude any work that presents complex installation problems. Merit awards up to $1600. A non-refundable entry of $25 will be required. Donations needed for the Florida Public Relations Association Annual Roast & Toast Dinner (Deadline: August 18, 2008) The Florida Public Relations Association is looking for donations for silent auction donations for their signature fundraising event. The event is attended by 400 of Tallahassee’s most prominent business and community and leaders and will take place on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at The University Center Club. The concept for the exhibition is to showcase area artists’ works created on a smaller scale (Image size not to exceed 25 square inches 3D may not exceed 8” x 8” x 8” including base) so that they may be affordably priced, between $50 - $250, and thus accessible to a broader audience. Alys Beach, located on Hwy 30A between Destin and Panama City Beach, is holding a digital arts festival on August 30 of Labor Day Weekend. LeMoyne Center for the Visual Arts in Tallahassee, Florida, is seeking submissions for a juried exhibition of handmade artist books embracing themes of Florida’s natural resources – places, animals, and plants. This exhibition will be presented in conjunction with LeMoyne’s annual exhibition of jewelry. Exhibition dates: October 3-26, 2008. Call to Visual Artists: 13th Annual Destin Festival of the Arts (Deadline: July 18, 2008)

Presented by the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation on October 25 & 26. this festival will be held at Henderson Beach State Park overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Entries are now being accepted for juried show artists to apply to be in the Festival, as well as entries for a poster and t-shirt design which will promote the 2008 Destin Festival of the Arts. $8,200 cash prizes to be awarded. Artist media include wood, metal, pastels, water media, oil, acrylic, jewelry, glass, collage, digital art, pastel, mixed media, graphite, pen & ink, color pencil, clay, fiber and photography. Each artist provides their own tent and display equipment. On-site artist parking will be available. All work must be solely that of the displaying artist and artist must be on premises during the Festival. A $30 non-refundable jury fee and a $175 booth fee are applicable. The National Wildlife Federation invites artists to submit images to our 2008 photography competition—our biggest Photo Contest in 38 years. Cash prizes totaling $18,000 plus camera equipment and other gifts will be awarded to the winners in three separate divisions: professional, amateur and youth.
