Call to Writers: Seven Hills Contest Sponsored by the Tallahassee Writers Association (Postmark Deadline: September 30, 2008)

The Tallahassee Writers Association is now accepting submissions for their annual Seven Hills Contest. First place winners will receive $100; second $75, and third, $50. Creative nonfiction, short stories, and children’s literature entries must be no more than 2,500 words. Call to Playwrights: From Page to Stage (Deadline: November 1, 2007)

Actors’ Playhouse is pleased to launch a new program serving as a channel for new works to be developed as potential productions in Actors’ Playhouse’s future “Second Stage.” The goal of the program is to support the creation of new theatre works and provide collaborative opportunities for emerging playwrights residing in Florida. Winners will be selected by a panel of selected industry professionals from the Florida theatre community under the leadership of Artistic Director David Arisco. Selected plays will be presented in a staged reading during the playreading festival currently scheduled for the weekend of June 1, 2008. Call to Writers: Poetry Workshop (Sunday April 29, 2007)

W“Opening Lines: Poetry Workshop for National Poetry Month” sponsored by Tallahassee Writers' Association and Writers of Wakulla presents author Donna Decker who will offer a hands-on poetry writing workshop on Sunday April 29 from 1:30-3:30 pm in Program Room A of the Leon County Public Main Library, 200 West Park Avenue. Writers of Wakulla poet Johnson Wood will read and sign his new book "Still Here." The event is free, open to the public.

Call to Writers: Love Stories for the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra (Deadline: February 5, 2007)

The Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra is searching for love stories to share with the audience in its “News of Notes” distributed at the Classic Romance concert on Saturday, February 10, 2007. Do you have a classic romance story to tell? Did you and your spouse meet on a hiking trip in the Rockies? Did you have a memorable week-long fling with an Italian in Palermo in 1971? Simply send us a letter about your romance and why it is classic, and if selected, you will receive two complimentary tickets to the concert – and a bouquet of romantic long-stemmed roses as well.
