Art Center Members and all Florida Artists are invited to submit 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional work for the next exhibition “Almost Too Precious to Sell”. Exhibition dates: September 2nd - October 25th, 2008. This exhibition invites artists to explore value and meaning and the intrinsic power of art for art’s sake and submit works in any medium that you yourself value most highly. There is a $10.00 entry fee (these proceeds will be used to print the labels and posters of the winning design). The painting does not have to maintain a vineyard theme. We encourage paint styles from traditional to contemporary that are eye-catching, colorful and unique. The contest winners painting will be donated for auction. We strongly encourage all artists to donate their entries for auction. The proceeds from the auction will go to the National Association of Women in the Arts Museum in Deland that will be opening in January 2009. Education Program Specialist/Living History at Mission San Luis
OPS $10.00 per hour, 40 hours per week. We are seeking someone to help us inform the public about the exciting history of Mission San Luis via tours, programs, and daily interpretation. Interpretation will include demonstrations of period crafts, skills, and chores while attired in 17th-century clothing. Willingness to learn and explore traditional crafts is also required. Experience with handcrafts such as carpentry is also a plus. Incumbent may be in the role of an Apalachee Indian or Spanish resident of the 17th-century Mission. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus. Additional responsibilities of this position will include program preparation and clean up, opening and closing of reconstructed buildings, and other related tasks.
