Call to Visual Artists: The Oglesby Gallery (Deadline: Not Specified)

The Oglesby Gallery is accepting applications for the Fall/Spring exhibits. This gallery is located at the heart of FSU in the Oglesby Union. The gallery is primarily a student gallery but we allow faculty, staff and friends of the University to show. Local artists are encouraged to apply. All entries will be subject to a panel review. Call to Visual Artists: Embracing Our Differences Presented by Coexistence in Sarasota, Florida (Deadline: January 12, 2009)

This is an international outdoor art exhibit intended to demonstrate, in a positive way, that diversity enriches our lives. The mission of Embracing Our Differences is to use art as a catalyst for creating awareness and promoting, throughout our community, the value of diversity, the benefits of inclusion and the significance of the active rejection of hatred and prejudice. Cash awards: $3,000. Eligibility: artists, photographers, professionals, amateurs, teachers and students. National and international submissions are encouraged. Final selections will be chosen based on artistic excellence in reflection of the theme Embracing Our Differences. The artwork will also be evaluated on how effectively it will read outdoors when enlarged to billboard size - 16 feet wide by 12 1/2 feet high. Call to Visual Artists: The 621 Gallery 15th Annual Art Auction (Commitment Deadline: Friday October 24th, 2008)

The 621 Gallery seeks donations of art work for the 15th Annual Art Auction on Friday November 21st from 5:30 – 10pm. An annual fundraiser for Tallahassee’s progressive contemporary art space, the Art Auction showcases work from the regions best artists. We want to ensure artists continue donating examples their finest work, therefore participating artists have the option to donate 50%, 75% or 100% of the final sale price to the gallery. Call to Visual Artists: Paperworks on and of Paper Sponsored by the University of West Florida (Deadline: October 9, 2008)

The University of West Florida is sponsoring a national juried exhibition exploring the art of paper. Entries are welcome in any medium. New media entries are encouraged, experimental as well as traditional, on or of paper. The work must be original, completed within the last three years, and not previously exhibited at the UWF Art Gallery. The Art Gallery reserves the right to exclude any work that presents complex installation problems. Merit awards up to $1600. A non-refundable entry of $25 will be required. Call to Performing Artists: Musicians Wanted for the Forgotten Coast Black Bear Festival at Kendrick Sports Complex in Carrabelle, Florida (Saturday, October 18, 2008)

We want to have entertainment from 10:00 am to 3:45 pm; perhaps a 45 minute set each hour, with 15 minutes for changing out. This first year we can offer a $50/band travel stipend. We are looking for six 45 minute sets; each paying $50. We are also looking for someone who can bring sound equipment and run it for the day; we have a $200 stipend for this. If someone wants to do 2 sets that would be $100 and if you have sound equipment, you hit the jackpot! In conjunction with the regular First Friday Gallery Hop, two shuttles will depart from Chez Pierre restaurant (1215 Thomasville Road) at 6:00 p.m. for a three hour tour of many of the participating galleries and museums. Riders have the opportunity to spend twenty to thirty minutes at each stop to sample each site’s unique art and gifts, as well as enjoy refreshments at certain locations. Between stops, on-board guides entertain with interesting facts about Tallahassee and the local arts scene. Shuttle tickets are $5 per person and will go on sale at 5:00 p.m. the day of the event outside Chez Pierre. Shuttle riders are encouraged to park in the TMH parking lot across Sixth Avenue from Chez Pierre. Seating is limited and an early arrival is encouraged to ensure ticket availability.
